Die Trou

That's "the wedding" in Afrikaans. In this case, Karlien and Fergusson Oppelt's wedding on November 15, 1997. Starting Friday afternoon, I stepped in as substitute housemom at Karlien and Fergusson's house. They're attending a conference in Durban this week. Five Agape kids (Ranel, Gwennie, Theo, Rezhaan and Gordon) live here, as well as Karlien and Fergs' two biological child, Kay-lynne and Joshua, who are staying with their grandmother this week.

Of course the first thing the kids do when mom and dad leave is go to the non-kid side of the DVD cabinet, which I'm sure they've been told either explicitly or implicitly to stay away from. When Ranel emerged with this selection, I figured there can't be any harm in showing Karlien and Fergs' wedding DVD to the kids. Well, this was the result:
"that's mommy!" "that's daddy!" "they're kissing!" and pointing out all the relatives from 12 years ago. The kids were totally captivated by the entire 2+ hours of the video, and we watched it at least 4 times over the course of the weekend.
