My love affair with South Africa continued this week as Landi and I were sent off to Greyton for Tuesday – Friday and Kleinmond for Friday – Sunday. Friends of Agape own self-catering accommodations in these tourist destinations and let us stay free of charge. (Thank you Anna, Marcello, Noel, and Gordon!) We started out at Mark Cottage in Greyton.
The interior was rustic. We cooked over gas, built fires, and slept in very cool beds.

I went for two hikes, first by myself and then with Landi. It was so great to be out in nature. It is quite a contrast from the Grabouw township.

We were in Greyton mid-week in winter, so not the peak tourist season. We joked that the place felt like a ghost town. Seriously, it was creepy. We walked in the main street and saw virtually no sign of life. Here is me in front of a bar that closed at 8PM.
And Landi laying down in the middle of the street inside body markings we stumbled across as we were joking that the place would be the perfect set for a horror movie. (!?!?)
We found one place, the Greyton Lodge, owned by a very friendly and hospitable Icelander, that was open. Here’s me there. Scary, huh?
We visited Genadendal, a nearby historic town, where we saw an interesting museum, a church, and cemetery (and horses wandering in the middle of the street, but I'm editing out those photos). This photo was taken just minutes after we learned Michael Jackson had passed away.
